CCU holds spring graduation

Saturday morning Coastal Carolina University held its spring commencement ceremony. It began at 8:30 a.m. at Brooks Stadium. Nearly 900 students participated in the ceremony.

US Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey gave this year's commencement address. She told the graduates that education was a privilege involving great responsibility.

Trethewey encouraged students to pursue the truth no matter how uncomfortable it should make them.

Seven of this year's students graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.0.

CCU officials say the university will hold their next graduation ceremony on August 9h.
