CCU football player arrested after drugs found in dorm

A Coastal Carolina University football player was arrested on drug charges.

John Masley, 20, of Jacksonville, FL., is a junior running back.

Police say maintenance workers found marijuana on his desk in a residence hall while doing maintenance check last week.

Police were called and say they also found a mushroom grow garden, a scale, metal grinders, two pills, smoked blunts and cash.

He faces four counts of possession and one count of distributing, selling, purchasing, or manufacturing drugs near a school. He was arrested Monday, April 15 and released on bond on Tuesday.

Masley has been removed from the football team, according Coastal Carolina spokesperson Martha Hunn.
