Change is on the way for Carolina Forest Boulevard travelers, as three new turn lanes have already been funded and it's only a matter of time before construction begins.
One new turn lane will be in front of the Avalon Community entrance, while the other two will be in front of the South Gate entrance and at the Carolina Forest Library and Recreation Center.
The Horry County Infrastructure and Regulation Committee recently met to discuss two big projects planned for Carolina Forest Boulevard.
The first project is new turn lanes, and the second is a re-surfacing project.
Bo Ives, Carolina Forest Civic Association President says he'd like to see one project done at a time.
"We'd like to see the re-surfacing postponed until there's an additional lane of travel so that we can better accommodate the traffic flow that's here, while the re-surfacing is underway," said Ives.
For those who travel this road day in and day out say this is one project they don't want to see the brakes put on.
"Make it safer for me, make it safer for my family and friends," said Matt Decker, commuter.
Ives says the county's infrastructure committee will announce next week when work on the new turn lanes will begin.
