Campbell Soup expanding in Robeson County, creating new jobs

Campbell Soup plans to invest $18 million to expand the warehouse facilities at its plant in Maxton, according to Gregory Cummings with the Robeson County Economic Development Office.

Cummings said the 200,000 square foot extension would create up to 10 jobs at the site.

The expansion is needed in part to accommodate increased production of Swanson broth at the plant, following the installation of a new broth line in January 2015, according to Megan Haney, Senior Manager-Brand Communications, Campbell Americas Campbell Soup Company.

Cummings said the plant has been in Maxton since 1979 and employs 875 full time and 400 contract employees.
