Burglary suspect turns himself in following manhunt

A man North Myrtle Beach police and other law enforcement agencies were searching for Thursday turned himself in on Friday at 9:13 a.m.

James White was wanted on charges of Burglary and Criminal Domestic Violence.

White broke into his girlfriend's home on March 27, got into an argument about their relationship status and then picked her up by her clothing and threw her on the floor, a police report states.

The victim told police White punched her in the stomach, back, and mouth. The couple left the home in a car, and the woman drove by a fire station in North Myrtle Beach blowing her horn to alert firefighters, the report says. The suspect jumped out of the car and ran towards Barefoot Towers and then took a taxi to Briarcliffe Acres to evade arrest, the report states.

The victim gave police a voluntary statement on another occasion that James broke into her house and took her cell phone while she was there.

Thursday's search started when police had reason to believe he had tried to break into the home again.
