Bob Granata is a member of The Rock Church in Conway, where the theme is Love God, Love People, and Do Something About It. His fellow church members are now putting that motto to the test, as they raise money to rebuild his home.
Granata lost his home this past week while trying to take down a tree in the yard with neighbors.
Clint Hardwick witnessed the damage and said, "It has no roof. It's beyond repair."
This house was much more than just a home to Bob, it was his first opportunity to live on his own and support himself. "It was mine, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me," he said.
Hardwick put together a fundraiser called Build Bob's House for a Buck. He's trying to build Bob a new home, one dollar at a time.
"This is a way to bring the community together to do something," said Hardwick. "If we can get 20,000 people to offer one dollar, then we can probably get Bob a nice play to stay."
Bob says if gets a new home, he'll place a permanent thank you in his yard.
"I'll put a big cross in the middle of my lawn and put Thank you Jesus, Thank you God, Thank you Rock. And display it in my front lawn, 'cause I couldn't express my thankfulness," said Bob.
