Five acres burned off of Jamestown Road in Florence County, according to the South Carolina Forestry Commission's website.
John DeLung with the Windy Hill Fire Department says they responded to a call about the fire around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
He says a homeowner burning trash caused the fire.
Windy Hill and the SC Forestry Commission was able to get the fire under control after about an hour.
DeLung says forestry officers cited the homeowner, but he isn't sure of the specific citation.
