Brookgreen Gardens ranks in the top 15 zoos for baby animals

USA Today released its list of the 15 zoos with the most charming baby animals and The Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens ranks 8th.

Brookgreen Gardens is on the list because of the four baby alligators born last September. These are the first baby gators born in the zoo in decades.

The baby gators' father has been a resident of the zoo since the 1970's and is now between 65 and 70 years old.

According to USA Today the top 10 zoos for baby animals this summer are:

1. Denver Zoo, Colorado

2. Brookfield Zoo, Illinois

3. Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society, Florida

4. Franklin Park Zoo, Massachusetts

5. Smithsonian's National Zoo, Washington, D.C.

6. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado

7. Albuquerque Biopark, New Mexico

8. The Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina

9. Zoo Boise, Idaho

10. The Maryland Zoo, Maryland
