Brookgreen Gardens gets grant to expand children's trail

Brookgreen Gardens will be getting a $5,000 grant to expand its children's nature and sensory trail.

Brookgreen is one of 30 intuitions that is getting a grant from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, according to a news release from the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The $5,000 Nature Play Begins At Your Zoo and Aquarium grant will fund the expansion of the children's trail which opened earlier this year, the release said.

The winning institutions were chosen by a panel of industry experts, the release said.

"We are very proud of the work Brookgreen Gardens continues to do in expanding programs that give families a better understanding of both our natural wonders and the beautiful works of art that adorn the premises," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "Grants like these ensure Brookgreen's great contributions to the Myrtle Beach area are secure for the foreseeable future."
