Bronze flower vases stolen from cemetery

About 75 bronze flower vases have been stolen from Florence Memorial Gardens on South Cashua Drive.

Each vase costs around $450 and the total of thefts comes to nearly $34,000.

Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone said deputies got a report on October 22, but he believes the thefts may have occurred on October 2. Boone said other cemeteries across the state are being hit as well.

Ashleigh Hutter and her mother Traci Singletary rushed to the cemetery after hearing their loved one's vase was gone from his grave.

They say it breaks their heart that someone could be so heartless.

"It kind of enrages me in a way, but it hurts me more so that people can be so heartless. I mean you struggle to have a proper burial for someone you love that's passed on and people are just heartless enough to not take into consideration what people go through to have a nice burial for people they love," said Hutter.

They bought another bronze vase to place on their loved ones graves.

Their hoping deputies will find the person who is stealing from the graves.

Deputies have contacted local metal recycling facilities to make them aware of the thefts. At this point, there are no arrests.
