Public Works crews in North Myrtle Beach have determined that what they thought initially was a water main break on Ocean Boulevard actually turned out to be a break in a service connection.
"Once public works crews were able to reach and isolate today's break on Ocean Boulevard," city spokesman Pat Dowling said, "it was determined that a water main had not broken. Instead, a two inch service connection broke on an eight inch water line. The break may have been caused by a combination of age, repetitive stress and other factors."
The problem occurred around 4:30 Wednesday morning near 54th Avenue North and North Ocean Boulevard.
The water was turned off but it has been restored. The roads are still closed.
