Bond set for Conway woman charged with husband's murder

Heather Sims, 30, who is charged with the August 11 murder of her husband, David Sims, 35, was in court Tuesday morning for a bond hearing.

Judge Benjamin Culbertson set her bond at $50,000.

      Sims was arrested last Friday.

Sims posted bond Tuesday afternoon and was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to officials at J. Reuben.

On August 11, police were called to the home she shared with her husband and 5-month-old baby on Old Reaves Ferry Road in reference to a shooting and stabbing.

When they arrived, Heather had wounds from a sharp object and David was dead of a gunshot wound.

The child was in the home but was not hurt.

Detectives say the two got into a fight, which led to Heather being injured and David being shot.

Her bond comes with several conditions. She is to remain at her parents home for 30 days. After that she can return to her own home.

She must turn in her passport and is not allowed to leave the state.

The Department of Social Services is responsible for determining what will happen with the custody of the 5-month-old.
