Bond denied for accused child molester

Tyrone Montgomery

A Darlington County Grand Jury

indicted Tyrone Montgomery Thursday on Criminal Sexual Conduct and Lewd Act On A Minor that were filed against him in 2009 and 2010.

He's expected to be tried on th

charges next month.

Circuit Court Judge Michael Baxley denied bond for Montgomery, 27, Wednesday, on five counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct With A Minor and Indecent Exposure due to the seriousness of the charges against him.

Hartsville police say he molested the children between the ages 5 and 8 on West Washington Street and Wilkes Circle in Hartsville in June.

The parents and grandparents of the victims told the judge their children are afraid of Montgomery and would be terrified if he got out of jail on bond.

However, one grandparent told authorities that her grandson, one of the alleged victims, denied that Montgomery committed the crimes against him.

Judge Baxley advised her to talk with the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office.

The Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office has also reinstated charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct and Lewd Act On A Minor charges filed against Montgomery in 2009 and 2010 that were dropped because the victim couldn't be found. The victim has been located and is allowing charges to be reinstated, according to the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office.

No word on when he'll be tried on the 2013 charges. The investigation is ongoing.
