Boil water advisory issued for City of Georgetown

The City of Georgetown is urging residents to boil tap water for a full minute before drinking or cooking with it.

According to the City of Georgetown's website, there was a major line break that caused a loss of pressure in the water system and therefore water service to many residents.

The break may have affected the entire water system, but there has been no confirmed contamination, the release on the website says.

But, because of the loss of pressure, there is a potential for contamination which is the reason for the boil water advisory, it says.

Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should also not be used.

The release says city employees are working to correct the problem.
