Police are treating a body pulled from the Lumber River in Lumberton Wednesday evening as suspicious.
The body has been identified as that of Clyde Hatcher, 65, according to Captain Terry Parker with Lumberton police.
Parker says Hatcher died after being shot in the head.
Relatives reported Hatcher missing Sunday to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.
A fisherman saw what he thought was a body Wednesday and called 911.
Lumberton Rescue responded and pulled the body from the water.
Parker says they plan to talk with Hatcher's relatives to determine his state of mind before he disappeared.
Police also hope to find the gun involved in the shooting, so they can determine the manner of death.
Police say Hatcher's is the second body found in the Lumber River this year.
