A body found around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near Red Bluff Landing in Horry County in the Waccamaw River is that of Edward Lee, 50, of Conway, who went missing last Friday according to Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler with the Horry County Coroner's Office.
WPDE NewsChannel 15 spoke with Scotty Fowler, who said he found the man's body today and called 911. He spoke with Lee's mother when he got back on land.
"I told them you know I go to Mt. Leon Baptist Church and we'll be praying for her. We're going to put her on our prayer list and we'll be praying for her every Sunday and Wednesday. She said thanks, you know, she appreciates it. She just said she's glad I found him, you know, glad he's found," Fowler explained.
Edward Lee was sitting with a group of people along the river when he decided to go in for a swim around 3:30 p.m. last Friday.
A witness said Lee went in, lost his footing and went under. They never saw him come back up. Several people went in to search for him, but couldn't find him so they called 911.
