Body found believed to be missing Marlboro County woman

The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office tells NewsChannel 15 a body found in a wooded area Friday is believed to be that of a missing woman.
They've charged John Lee Hogan with murder in the death of Monesha Brown.
Earlier this week, police identified him as a person of interest in Brown's death. She was last seen with him inside his pick up truck on June 4th.
Today police found a body in a wooded area off of Highway 38 South in Marlboro County.
They are waiting on an autopsy to positively identify the body as Brown's.
SLED, the Bennettsville Police, the Marlboro Sheriff's Office and the Marlboro County Coroner assisted in the investigation.

The Marlboro County Sheriffs Office announces the arrest of John Lee Hogan, Jr. for the murder of Monesha Shante Brown. Hogan is 37-years-old and resides at 452 Marks Circle, Bennettsville SC 29512, but is originally from the state of Texas. Hogan has a past criminal history.
T his investigation began in early June 2010 with the Bennettsville Police Department investigating it as a missing person.
T he family of Ms. Brown reported her missing around June 16th 2010 to the Bennettsville Police Dept.. During the course of the investigation by the Bennettsville Police Department it was determined by witnesses that Ms. Brown was last seen with an individual matching Hogan's description on or about June 5th or 6th 2010. The Bennettsville Police Department then asked for assistance from SLED forensic art. The Bennettsville Police Department and Marlboro County Sheriffs Office then used the composite drawing to identify Hogan.
D uring the later part of this week, Hogan was interviewed by Marlboro County Sheriff investigators and Bennettsville Police investigators. on thursday a search of Hogan's vehicle and residence was conducted by the MCSO, BPD and SLED crime scene unit. Information received from that search prompted MCSO and BPD investigators to interview hogan today and a second search of his home was conducted by MCSO, BPD and SLED.
T he investigation and statements from hogan to Inv. Shawn Feldner of the MCSO and Lt. Larry Turner of the BPD lead to the discovery of a body that is believed to be Ms. Brown, in a wooded area off Hwy 38 south in Marlboro County today. We believe that soon we will have a positive identification. An autopsy will be performed by MUSC in Charleston SC on Saturday. Earlier in the day today, an all out search was conducted by over 50 officers. This search was conducted by atv's, on foot, helicopter(provided by Chesterfield County Sheriffs Office, Sheriff Sam Parker) and horseback.
W e would like to thank the many groups involved in the search and investigation which include: Bennettsville Police, SLED, Chesterfield County Sheriffs Office, Wallace/Brightsville Fire Dept and search and rescue, Marlboro County 911 services and the Sumter County Sherifs Office and police department. Ms. Brown's family has been intrumental in this investigation and has worked hand in hand with the BPD and MCSO daily with information. We thank them greatly and for their patience and dilligence.
M s. brown was 29 years old and last lived on Hwy 15-401 at Grace Apartments apt 2 in Bennettsville SC. Hogan is being housed at the Marlboro County Detention Center and will have a bond set by a circuit court judge at a later date. The motive and any information about the cause of death will not be released at this time.
