The man whose body was found in the lake at Broadway at the Beach on Sunday drowned, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Willard said Monday morning that the preliminary cause of death for Darrell Wayne Graham, 41, is drowning.
Graham was reported missing by his girlfriend around 5:30 Sunday morning.
The woman told police she and Graham were leaving Broadway at the Beach when they got into an argument, as stated in the police report. She said Graham had to use the restroom and walked behind Ron Jonâ??s Surf Shop. She was waiting in front of the building when she heard what she said sounded like a person jumping in the water.
The woman added she simply thought Graham was â??messing aroundâ?? so she continued to wait in front of Ron Jonâ??s Surf Shop. After a few minutes, she went to look for Graham but could not locate him and called police.
Several Myrtle Beach Police officers and firemen then arrived and searched the area for Graham, but could not find him. Officers then escorted the woman home to see if Graham returned to their residence. Upon realizing he was not at home, a missing persons report was filed.
Grahamâ??s body was later found in the lake at Broadway at the Beach, an area previously searched by police.
