Boaters have a new place to get on the water in Horry County.
The county opened its new boat landing on the intracoastal waterway, just north of the Highways 17 and 22 interchange.
The $1.5 million project includes a two-lane boat ramp, a floating dock and a parking lot to accommodate 40 vehicles and boat trailers.
The closest boat landings are nine miles north and 13 miles south of the new landing.
"This is an awesome day. We've been working on this thing for two and a half years, finally got it pulled together, got it constructed and I think its the nicest landing in the county," said Horry County Councilman Brett Schulz.
Now, the county is working on a beautification project for the area.
US Fish and Wildlife Services and the state Department of Natural Resources helped Horry County pay for the project.
