Friends of a Surfside Beach woman who was shot to death two weeks ago are holding a benefit in her honor.

"I still can't believe it's happened, let alone to Brooke," said neighbor and friend, Susan Hughes.

Brooke Navoy was found shot to death in her home on Surfside Beach.

"'The thing that kills me the most, upsets me the most, is thousands of people loved her and it only took one person to take her away from us and that is so very hard," said Hughes.

Police say her death is under investigation.

"Still treating the death as suspicious," said Surfside Beach Police Chief Rodney Keziah. "We feel that the community is still very safe and this is an isolated incident within this specific residence."

At a benefit today at Chelsea Jo's in Murrells Inlet, friends and family remembered the person that Brooke was and her smile.

"Even though the good Lord's got her upstairs, she'll be looking down on everybody down here, smiling," said friend Mike Flynn.
