Barefoot bridge painting work on schedule

Painting and repair work on the Barefoot Resort swing bridge in North Myrtle Beach is still on schedule, according to city officials.

A shroud that is covering the bridge during the repainting was supposed to be removed by January 11, but city spokesman Pat Dowling says it's still there, due to rain and humidity.

He says some minor sections of steel on the bridge were too eroded to be repainted and they are being replaced with new steel plates.

Dowling says the bridge will reopen to at least one lane of vehicle traffic by Monday, January 16. The bridge is scheduled to be completely open by February 13th.
