Bank robbery suspect awaiting extradition

A man Horry County police arrested Wednesday night in connection with a bank robbery in North Carolina is at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting extradition.

Horry County police say they responded to the Sleep Inn on Highway 17 in Little River because of a report that someone saw the suspect, Christopher Wilson Scott, 32, of Little River.

Detectives from North Carolina were already on scene and began chasing the Scott on foot.

Horry County police searched the area where Scott was last seen, found him and chased him on foot onto the Eagles Nest golf course.

During the search, police say they found the Scott swimming in the Intracoastal Waterway.

He was taken into custody.

Brunswick County Deputies say Christopher Wilson Scott, 38, of Little River robbed the Security Savings Bank in Calabash.

They say at 12:25 p.m. Monday, he went into the bank on Beach Drive and forced employees to give him money. He left on foot.
