Backgate construction delayed again, now set for Sunday night

Road work will take place this Sunday night into Monday morning at the Backgate construction site in Myrtle Beach after construction work was cancelled Thursday night, according to Kelly Lee Brosky with Horry County.

Asphalt work was supposed to be done Thursday night into Friday morning but was cancelled because of inclement weather.

Sunday night's work is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. and finish by 6 a.m. Monday, weather permitting, according to Brosky.

Contractors will perform asphalt buildup which will cover the entire intersection at US 17 Bypass/SC707,

Drivers will be able to travel north and south on Highway 17 Bypass, but will not be permitted to make left turns onto Farrow Parkway or S.C. 707, the release said.

Drivers on Farrow Parkway or S.C. 707 will not be allowed through the intersection or able to make left turns. They will only be allowed to make right turns onto Highway 17 Bypass.

This week's road work was supposed to be done Tuesday and Wednesday night, but only happened Wednesday night because of the weather.
