The Town of Atlantic Beach held an election Tuesday to fill two seats on town council.
Lenearl Evans, Ken McLaurin and Retha Pierce are all on the ballot with Carolina Cole and Windy Price running as write-ins.
An Atlantic Beach resident filed a petition asking the South Carolina Supreme Court to stop the the election.
The court ruled against the petition and allowed Tuesday's election to be held, saying that the petitioner did not let all parties know of the petition before filing it.
This comes after last month Patricia Bellamy, who claimed to be the municipal election commissioner for the town of Atlantic Beach, declared Windy Price and Carolyn Cole had won re-election of their town council seats because they were the only two who filed to run.
But, Joe Montgomery, the actual town election commissioner, said the three running Tuesday were the only ones to file to run for Cole and Price's seats. Cole and Price have since announced they are write-in candidates.
