Athletes and spectators prepare for Olympic opening day

SOCHI, Russia - In just a couple of hours some 3,000 athletes from around the world will be marching in to the Olympic stadium in Sochi, Russia, for the opening ceremony of the Winter Games.

The show director says the ceremony will focus on Russia and Olympic ideals of sportsmanship and achievement.

He says a Russian pop duo called Tatu (like tattoo) was chosen to perform because its upbeat dance song will motivate athletes.

But critics say the pseudo-lesbian pop duo is a gimmick in a country that has a law banning gay "propaganda."
