Crews responded to the scene of a car verse ambulance collision around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The ambulance was travelling south on Highway 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet, when it ran a red light and collided with a car turning left into Home Depot, according to Corporal Sonny Collins, with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The ambulance driver is at fault because although the ambulance did have emergency lights on, the driver did not make sure the intersection was clear before going through it, Collins said.

Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were no patients in the ambulance, Collins said.
