Amber Alert canceled for 2-year-old Clarendon County boy

Brandon Dubose

The State Law Enforcement Division says the Amber Alert for Brandon Lee Dubose, II has been canceled. The boy was found safe and his father has been arrested.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett tells NewsChannel 15 Dubose abducted the child from a gas station in Clarendon County Monday. Sheriff Garrett says Dubose followed the mother to a gas station and took the child out of her car there.

Garrett adds dogs tracked a manâ??s scent into a swamp in Sumter County.

Garrett also said Dubose beat the child's mother so badly in April that she had to be hospitalized. Dubose was then charged with criminal domestic violence.

Our sister station, WACH in Columbia is reporting Dubose is prohibited from possessing or acquiring a handgun in the state of South Carolina. However, Sheriff Garrett considered Dubose armed and dangerous. Dubose's rap sheet goes back to 1997 with the most recent being just last month.

"He's lost the right to walk the streets with us, he doesn't deserve bond," Sheriff Garett said at a press conference Tuesday.
