Narcotics Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, with the help of the City of Florence Police Department Narcotics Division arrested Derrick Reshawn Harrison, 37, of Florence last Friday, and charged him with Trafficking in Heroin and Possession of Controlled Substances.
During a traffic stop in which Harrison was a passenger, officers found 67 bindles of black tar heroin, according to investigators.
That resulted in a search of a hotel room registered in the name of Harrison at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Interstate 95, according to a police report. That search resulted in the discovery of an additional 1,063 bindles of heroin, a semi-automatic handgun and a vial of Phencyclidine (PCP), according to the report.
The total weight of the heroin was 406 grams, the report says.
Investigators estimate the value of the illegal drugs at $50,000.
Harrison was released from the Florence County Detention Center on Saturday on a $60,000 surety bond.
