State health officials say three patients have developed hepatitis B after receiving medical injections at a North Charleston clinic.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control says all three people received spinal injections with common medications on the same dates in February.
The agency says health officials are notifying 23 other patients who received similar injections and could be at risk.
Hepatitis B is a communicable disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms include fever, fatigue, nausea, joint pain and dark urine. The disease can develop into a chronic condition.
