The trial of a Tabor City man, charged with the 2005 murders of an Horry County couple, is scheduled to begin Monday.
In 2005, police arrested Richard Gagnon in connection with the murders, but a second DNA sample from the crime scene went unmatched. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division kept it on file for future comparisons.
In 2006, police responded to a home invasion near Longs in Horry County. DNA samples collected from the crime scene also belonged to an unknown suspect. It too was turned over to SLED for possible future comparisons.
Police linked Hill to the 2005 double murder after being arrested in Tennessee on unrelated charges.
Horry County police charged Hill with two counts of Murder and 1st Degree Robbery.
Richard Gagnon was sentenced to life in prison after his 2008 conviction for killing Charles and Diane Parker.
