Loris, S.C. (WPDE) —
UPDATE: This man was arrested in Columbus County, N.C. on Jan. 16.
A 20-year-old man is wanted for murder in connection with a shooting last week in Loris.
According to a news release, the shooting took place around 1 a.m. on Jan. 6 on Barts Road.
The incident report shows that upon arrival officers found a man with a head wound lying on the ground in the front yard of a home being held by a woman.
Officers said the woman, along with another man in the area, said they were inside the home with two children when they heard a car horn outside.
At that time, the woman said a man she was familiar with came to the door and came inside, saying he wanted the victim to take a look at a gun he had for sale.
According to the report, the woman said the victim went outside to do so. Shortly later, the woman described hearing a single gunshot and tires spinning.
When everyone in the house had the opportunity to look outside, they found the victim on the ground, police said.
Police and EMS were called, and the victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Over the course of the investigation, officers say they identified 20-year-old Quotase Jenrette of Clarendon, N.C., as a suspect in the shooting.
Horry County police say Jenrette is wanted and, upon capture, will be charged with murder.
