18-year-old accused of hitting ex-girlfriend at Loris High School

An 18-year-old man is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend in the face at Loris High School.

Kinish Levern Simon of Loris is facing charges of Assault and Disturbing Schools.

A 17-year-old girl went into class crying on Monday morning after 8:00 a.m., according to a police report.

Her friend told the teacher that the girl had just been hit on both sides of her face and her purse was stolen.

Officers checked the school's camera system. They discovered Simon had his arm around the girl before he hit her on both sides of the face.

Simon was taken to the office. Then he was arrested around 10:00 a.m.

He is being held without bond at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

The victim's mother told police that Simon texted the girl the morning of the incident and said "Don't leave me when the bell rings, ima walk cause I got something for you."

Simon also told police that he wore sweat pants and a sweat shirt to school so he would be comfortable in jail.

He told officers he planned to punch the girl so that he could get arrested, and could have a judge issue a restraining order so the girl would have to 'leave him alone.'

Police said the two had been broken up for three months.

The girl has a visible injury on the left side of her face.
