11-year-old asks to be Myrtle Beach's mayor
Myrtle Beach, SC (WPDE) —
An 11-year-old cancer survivor from North Carolina says he wants to take over as mayor of Myrtle Beach.
Laken Bryant spent his birthday weekend in Myrtle Beach with his family and they decided to stop by City Day.
There, he expressed his interest in city leadership.
"It's my favorite city and I just love thinking about Myrtle Beach. I love planning stuff about Myrtle Beach, making tweets and stuff. I think I'd be a good mayor," said Bryant.
City department leaders made sure to give Laken and his little sister a grand tour of City Day.
The police let the Bryant family get in the SWAT truck and on their boat.
The Myrtle Beach Fire Department showed the siblings how to use a fire extinguisher.
Laken says he wants his parents to get a vacation house in Myrtle Beach. He hopes to run for mayor when he turns 30.
