With only his name on the ballot, Lazarus wins Horry County Council Chairman seat

Mark Lazarus

Horry County Council will have a new leader later this month when Mark Lazarus takes the oath as council chairman.

Lazarus was the only name on Tuesday's ballot. Unofficial results show he received over 90 percent of the vote, write-ins got the rest.

Lazarus won the Republican nomination, defeating Councilman Al Allen in a runoff election last month. No Democrats filed to run.

He will fill the remainder of Tom Rice's term. Rice resigned to become the area's new congressman.
