Mark Lazarus is leading Al Allen in the Republican primary runoff election for Horry County Council Chairman.
According to Lazarus's campaign Allen conceded.
Lazarus has 55% of the vote, to Allen's 45% with 124 of 125 precincts reporting.
Turnout was very light. Just 6.38 percent of registered voters in the county cast a ballot.
In the March 12th primary election, Lazarus received the most votes, but did not have 50% of the vote, forcing the runoff with the next candidate with the most votes, Councilman Al Allen.
No Democrat filed for the race, although a general election will be held on April 30th to allow for possible write-in candidates.
The Horry County Council Chairman's seat opened up when Tom Rice was elected to represent the South Carolina 7th Congressional District.
