Bond denied for man accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman Saturday

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- Bond was denied in General Sessions court for the registered sex offender accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman in a restroom Saturday.

Charles Lamb was charged with criminal sexual conduct first-degree, kidnapping, strong armed robbery, and trespassing,

The 46-year-old was located at Lexington Medical Center (LMC) by an employee who recognized him from news reports about the alleged crime.

The employee immediately notified the LMC Public Safety Department once she recognized Lamb.

Upon arrival, officers say Lamb ran outside of the hospital.

After a brief foot chase, Lamb was detained.

LMC offices called CPD to transfer custody.

Lamb is accused of sexually assaulting a 61-year-old woman inside of a restroom stall at a doctor's office Saturday afternoon.

He is also accused of trying to steal money from her purse.

The crime was interrupted when a witness walked into the restroom, causing Lamb to run away from the scene.

The victim suffered from head injuries during the struggle and was medically treated at the scene.
