UPDATE: 3-month-old missing from Haywood County found safe

Deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Heather Cochran and Rex Douglas Cochran Jr., of Clyde, in connection with an Amber Alert. (N.C. Dept. of Public Safety)

UPDATE: Heather Cochran , Rex Douglas Cochran Jr. and Cali Marie Cochran have been located at a friend's house, according to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.

Heather and Rex Cochran were taken into custody at 5:25 p.m. at 445 Coffee Lane in Fletcher

Officers from the Fletcher Police Department and deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office made entry and located them in the basement of 445 Coffee Lane.

The child is safe and is being evaluated by medical personnel at this time, which is standard procedure when a child is involved.

Heather and Rex Cochran are wanted in North Dakota on felony child abuse charges and fled Haywood County after an emergency custody order was issued.

The investigation is ongoing and officials with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will release further details later on this evening.

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) - An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing child out of Haywood County.

Deputies are looking for three-month-old Cali Marie Cochran, a white female, approximately 20 inches tall, weighing 10 pounds. She has brown hair and unknown-colored eyes.

The search is a combined effort between the sheriff's office, the state Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

They say Cali was last seen in Clyde at about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities believe she's with her parents, Rex Douglas Cochran Jr. and Heather Marie Cochran.

Heather is a 31-year-old white woman. She has brown hair and green eyes. Deputies say she has a tattoo on the right side of her neck that says "Faith."

Rex is a 39-year-old white man, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.

Deputies say they are wanted in North Dakota on felony child abuse charges and fled Haywood County with Cali after an emergency custody order was issued.

Lindsay Regner, public information officer, said, "based on the standing court order it is safe to assume the child could be in danger, and where they're going and who they're with."

They could be in one of two cars, a 2001 blue Ford Mustang or a gray 1999 Chevrolet Suburban with North Dakota tag 489AWH.
