3 found dead, 1 injured in Lenoir County shooting
LA GRANGE, N.C. (WCTI) - The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to 308 W. Queen St. in La Grange for reports of shots fired around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
According to Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram, deputies found four gunshot victims at the scene in an outbuilding on the property.
"Basically it's two storage buildings. They joined them together and made this like a little party-type room," said Ingram.
Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one was treated by EMS and transported to Vidant Medical Center by helicopter for further treatment. The victim was listed as being in stable condition Sunday afternoon.
La Grange neighbors were shocked by the incident. One woman said she was "amazed" and it's "really crazy out here." Another man described one of the victims as being someone who "would give you the shirt off his back."
Lenoir County detectives and crime scene personnel stayed on scene from 2 a.m. until just after noon. Ingram says the investigation is still ongoing. At this time, the sheriff's office is not releasing names of the victims and would not say if it had leads on the suspect.
