Two men sentenced to life in prison for Independence Day Murder

Marco Sanders was one of two men setenced to life in prison in connection with the shooting death of Sam Rowell in 2012.

A jury has convicted Tyrell Woods and Marco Sanders of Murder, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Conspiracy and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime in the death of Sam Rowell, 71.

They were sentenced to life in prison on Thursday at the conclusion of the trial held that was held this week in the Marion County Courthouse.

Rowell was shot and killed at his home on Phil Court in the Friendship Community of Marion County July 4, 2012.

He was also gagged with his hands tied behind his back and his ankles duct taped together.

"This was a senseless killing senseless cold, blooded assassination," said Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson at the time.
