Two suspects taken into custody in connection to the murder of Alton Antonio Daniels, 34, of Shallotte, North Carolina are now in the Myrtle Beach jail facing Murder charges, according to Myrtle Beach Police Captain David Knipes.
Meleke De'Shawn Stewart, 18, and Broderick Roscoe, 18, both from Chester, were taken into custody in Chester on Wednesday, according to the Chester County Sheriff's Department.
Just before 9 a.m. on Monday, police officers were called to the parking lot of the Days Inn at the corner of 9th Avenue South and Yaupon Drive in Myrtle Beach for a report of a shooting victim, Knipes said.
When they got on scene, they found Daniels in the driver's side of a car. We're told the he was pronounced dead on scene.
Knipes said Daniels met with Stewart and Roscoe in the 800 block of Yaupon Drive that morning, before he was found shot to death in his car.
A ccording to police affidavits, phone records from Daniels' phone revealed multiple text messages and phone calls to and from a number subscribed to Stewart. The text messages reveal Daniels, Stewart and Roscoe were going to meet for sex in exchange for money.
Cell phone data from Stewart's phone also shows he was at the location at the time of the incident.
According to police affidavits, In a police interview Roscoe admitted he and Stewart planned to rob the victim.
In previous reports, we showed Walmart surveillance pictures police released showing three people wanted for questioning in connection with Daniels' death. "They have been contacted and cleared of any involvement," Knipes said.
