Georgetown County deputies and Andrews police stopped Jimmy Dale Cagle, 36, in a traffic stop.
Deputies say Cagle robbed the Mini Mart on High Market Street in Georgetown just after 1 a.m. Sunday. They called in the bloodhound tracking team, but the dogs lost his scent after a few blocks.
Georgetown County Sheriff Lane Cribb says publicity about a warrant for Cagle's arrest helped generate tips that eventually led to Cagle's capture.
He says valuable information was provided by phone and through the county's new "text-a-tip" system. You can submit anonymous tips anytime by texting the word "GCSOTIP" to 274637 and adding your message. Text-a-tip should never be used for crimes in progress. Those should always be called into 9-1-1.
The sheriff's office says Cagle has an extensive criminal history ranging from petty theft and drug possession to resisting arrest, assaults on citizens, assaults on police and robbery.
Cagle is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
