South Carolina couple killed in St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten (AP) - A couple from South Carolina has been killed in the Dutch Caribbean country of St. Maarten.

The bodies of Michael and Thelma King were found in their beachfront condominium Friday and police spokesman Ricardo Henson says there are signs of foul play.

Local restaurant owner Topper Daboul tells The Associated Press that he was a friend of Michael King and that they were building a rum factory together.

He says King recently sold an unidentified company he owned in the U.S.

Neither Daboul nor police knew the Kings' hometown. Both were in their 50s.
