Police release picture of attempted bank robbery suspect
Mon, 11 Oct 2010 15:36:39 GMT — Horry County police responded to Conway National Bank at the intersection of 17 Business and Chestnut Street around 10:00 Monday morning for an attempted bank robbery.
Police are still looking for the woman responsible. They released a picture from the bank's security camera a few hours after the robbery attempt.
They say she walked into the bank wearing a wig, sunglasses and a backpack. Police say the woman walked up to the teller and showed a note that said she had explosives in her bag. She did not get any money and left the bank.
The woman walked down Chestnut Street. Bloodhounds tracked her scent. But police say she eventually got into a car. They say it's an older model box car that is either beige or faded green.
A short time later, the bomb squad was called out for a suspicious package found down the road from bank. Police believe its related to the attempted robbery.
We have a crew on the scene and will post additional details as we get them.
