Police looking for inmate mistakenly released from prison

Dwaine Johnson Jr., 19, was arrested in August 2011 for the shooting of the owners of the Szechuan Restaurant on Highmarket Street in Georgetown.

Johnson was serving a six month sentence for throwing bodily fluids on a corrections officer at Kirkland Correctional Institution, according to Clark Newsom

Department of Corrections.

He was released Wednesday after serving that sentence, but he is facing charges for attempted murder out of Georgetown County, said Newsom.

Police have reason to believe he is in the Georgetown area, said Captain Nelson Brown with the Georgetown Police Department.

The Department of Corrections is assisting Georgetown in searching for Johnson. They believe Johnson may be armed and dangerous.

There is a reward for information leading to Johnson's capture.
