A portable methamphetamine lab was discovered in a Surfside Beach home Friday night.
Police received a complaint about suspicious activity at the home on 4th Avenue.
Once police entered the home, they smelled a strong chemical smell. They evacuated the home and called Drug Enforcement Agents.
DEU agents found an inactive shake and bake meth lab, according to Agent Dean Bishop. The meth lab was confined to one room.
Inactive meth labs can still be dangerous, according to Bishop, because of the chemicals.
SLED disposed of the lab Friday night.
Police arrested Wayne Russell, 33, of Surfside Beach. Russell is charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine, second offense.
Russell is currently in the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.
