Myrtle Beach police release Memorial Day weekend stats 2004-2014

Myrtle Beach police released their statistical report for Memorial Day weekend.

According to the report, weapons offenses, drug possession and sales, and assault and battery with intent to kill and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature were all up for the weekend over last year.

In many cases, those calls were up over the past 10 years.

Atlantic Beach Bikefest, which happens during Memorial Day, has come under fire after multiple shootings in Myrtle Beach left three people dead and several injured.

The number of traffic fatalities was down this year. One person died in a motorcycle crash over Memorial Day weekend in 2014, compared to four last year. That person died on Monday, more than a week after the crash. No details were immediately available about the crash.
