Robbers shot and killed a man in his 20s during a home invasion early Wednesday morning, Myrtle Beach police detectives said.

Detectives said that at around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday as many as three robbers entered an apartment at Carolina Breeze on Cedar Street, demanded money, and then shot a man inside.

The man, whose identity had not been released as of this posting, was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where he later died.

A woman at the scene who identified herself as the mother of the victim's girlfriend said her daughter was inside at the time of the robbery but was not hurt.

The woman said her daughter and the man had dated for about a year and had lived in the apartment for roughly nine months.

As of this posting, police had not made any arrests, though officers were patrolling throughout the neighborhood that sits between Highway 501 and 3rd Avenue South.
