Myrtle Beach police charged Herbert Jordan Richardson, III, 33, with Murder Friday morning.
Richardson stabbed his roommate multiple times at their home in the 400 block of Chester Street about 5:20 a.m., according to Corporal Jim Garrett.
The victim has been identified as Randall Burkett, 50, of Myrtle Beach. Burkett was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he died, according to Cpl. Garrett.
Burkett was known as Andy to his neighbors and friends, who were shocked by the stabbing.
"I just passed him walking on the sidewalk, mater of fact said Happy Thanksgiving to him yesterday," neighbor Robin Peterman said.
Police arrested Richardson at the home.
They also seized what they called in the arrest report a "lethal cutting instrument."
An autopsy was completed Friday afternoon. Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says Burkett died from multiple organ trauma as result from a stabbing. He also had appeared to suffer from addition blunt trauma before being stabbed.
Richardson remains in Myrtle Beach jail without bail.
