Man accused of shooting and paralyzing USC student sentenced to 10 years

COLUMBIA (WACH) - 20 year-old Michael Juan Smith has been sentenced to 10 years for federal weapons charges, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Smith is accused of shooting and paralyzing 18-year-old University of South Carolina student, Martha Childress.
Smith will remain in jail to face several other charges stemming from the October shooting of Childress in Columbia's Five Points.
