Dillon police say a citizen followed a man in his car after the man robbed First Bank on Monroe Street just after 10:30 Wednesday morning.
Officers said the man walked into the bank and demanded money from the teller.
He then walked out of the bank and drove away in a car, according to officers.
Captain David Lane said that's when the citizen spotted him in a car, followed him, and called 911.
Police say it is thanks to the citizen's help that they were able to arrest the man about a mile away from the bank.
"We're indebted to him, and without him we couldn't have caught him," said Captain David Lane.
The suspect's name has not yet been released, but Cpt. Lane said he will be charged with Armed Robbery.
